Stains are various types of contaminants, most commonly caused by food, other organic substances, markers... These stains can generally be removed as long as there has been no change in the material's properties, meaning no fabric discoloration.
Critical situations where “stains” cannot be removed include:
Sun Discoloration: This happens when one part of the sofa is exposed to sunlight through a window, while the other part never receives sunlight. The fabric will naturally fade or change color, leaving permanent discoloration.
Dye Staining: This occurs when clothing dyed with strong dyes leaves permanent stains on the fabric. A common culprit is denim (jeans), which can transfer its color to other materials.
Some fabric damage may appear to be stains but could actually be damage caused by substances with very high or very low pH, which might cause irreversible harm to the material.
Here’s a list of common types of stains that are typically removable:
Ink, marker, pen, food coloring, cocoa, jam, eggs, ketchup, cosmetics, medication, grass, greasy food, feces, stain remover, oil paint, glue, mold, water-based paint, nail polish, motor oil, shoe polish, makeup, tar/asphalt, grease, lipstick, wax, soda, decaffeinated coffee, coffee, fruit juice, sauce, wine, tomato sauce, tea, alcoholic drinks, cocktails, ice cream, mustard.
